If you know non-Christian friends or wish to understand more about the Gospel, please feel free to join Alpha course. It is held on Saturdays for 2 hours only, starting 1 Aug to 27 Sept 2009. It is a good approach to share the Gospel with non-believers. Christians are encouraged to attend too. 104 people attended the 1st sesson (including the hosts & co-hosts, & helpers from Canaan church). 84 people attended 2nd session.
No homework required. Those who signed up for Alpha will be given a Alpha Course manual for them to jot down notes & etc during videos.

and Ps Benny will be sharing with us on "Re-Visiting The Great Commission".
“RE-VISITING THE GREAT COMMISSION
- GLOBAL VISION & LOCAL FOCUS”
Dr Augustus Strong said:
“What are churches for but to make missionaries?
What is education for but to train them?
What is transport for but to carry them?
What is money for but to send them?
What is life itself for but to fulfill the purpose of missions
– the enthroning of Christ in the hearts of every man,
woman and child in the face of this earth?”
Mission is the imperative of the local church. The Holy Spirit is the dynamo
behind missions. And the Church of Jesus Christ is the divinely appointed vehicle.
The apostles received the Great Commission in Matthew 28 and the Great Compulsion
of the Holy Spirit in Acts 1: 8 but they never quite did it!
The Early Church pretty much wrapped up the gospel with a Jewish flag and kept the
blessings of the Gospel within their own Jewish people and their own beloved Jerusalem.
This course seeks to uncover the hidden message in the Book of Acts which recorded
not so much the readiness of the Early Church to spread the Gospel but rather their
reluctance to do so!
Come and see how the Holy Spirit turned their reluctance into resolve and unleashed
a mission force that transformed the world for Jesus Christ!

Jean Tan. Combining influences from folk, alternative and acoustic music and deriving inspiration from the Psalms, Jean's songs of adoration and struggle are honest, bare expressions of her daily walk with God and through life. By the Spirit she hopes to minister to those who listen and impact those who are searching - music is from heaven after all - while broadening definitions of mainstream Christian music in her experiences with acapella, choral music, world languages and various acoustic gigs.
Laverne Ong. Having a mother who was a piano teacher and a father who has a wonderful singing voice, Laverne grew up in a musical family. She started piano at the tender age of 4 but only started composing when she was 16. Since then, she has been joining many composing competitions and some singing competitions. Early this year, she released her album-- Colours of My Life under an independent label--Soundbites, and has since then been performing regularly. She is also in a jazz band-- Radical Context, as the singer. Radical Context has performed in places like Esplanade, Timbre, national libraries and for wedding gigs.So far, she has 2 first prizes, 2 second prizes, 2 third prizes under her belt. Also, she had been a composer with Touch Publishing when she was 19 and sold 4 songs locally and internationally. Although she has a degree in life sciences, her love and passion for music led to her being the music director of a learning music centre, Music Mocha, early this year too.

Singers Needed for Choir on Christmas Concert

If you have the passion for Sing and would like to join a choir, there is a good news. Currently IFC (International Festival Chorus) is seeking a few singers to join them for thier Christmas Concerts which will be held on the following dates:
- 28 Nov 2008 : Concert at Kg Kapoor Methodist Church
- 6 Dec 2008 : Carolling @ the Dutch/Hollandse Club @ Camden Park
- 8 Dec 2008 : Carolling @ Japanese Association
Their Choir will be rehearsing every Wednesday starting from 3rd September 2008 until 19 November 2008 @ United World College - Dover Road @ 7:30PM
