The underlying aim is to provide practical assistance to these needy people, and in so doing, demonstrate the love of God (Matthew5:16).We will be returning to these villages on a regular basis and so therefore have a unique opportunity to follow up on both the medical as well as the spiritual development of these people.Administration

Spiritual preparation/qualities
1. Willingness to serve - You are not there to act as act as Christ's ambassadors in Batam, to serve (latreuo worship) our Lord and the people in Batam with humility and love recognizing that you are privileged to be given an opportunity to serve.
2. Sensitivity to others - be sensitive to the needs and different outlook and behaviour of the other members of the team as well as the people you serve. God has made each one of us fearfully and differently. Respect that difference and make accommodation for each other. In all matters, defer to the leader's direction.
3. Rejoice in the Lord and ask for Him for confidence and self-control in every situation.
4. Pray always. Prayer support - from your cell groups, church groups etc.
