St. John Island camping on 2-3Jan2010 (For Single Christians Only)
Hi friends, wishing you a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year. I am planning an overnight camping on 2-3Jan2010 at St.John Island. If I am able to gather a group of 12, we can charter a boat to Pulau Hantu, depending on the response. Lets hope that we have the whole island to ourselves. You need to have your own tent. We will be doing some simple outdoor cooking, lagoon swimming, fishing, games, photography, etc. If you are keen into this outdoor activity, do email me at hirobo_sceadu@yahoo.com for more info.

A Woman’s Heart
Written on November 8, 2009 by LadyExec in God, Issues & Laws, Jesus, Women's Rights, Women's Rights, support, the winning woman, women
When you consider the challenges women face daily, the blocks in her path, the negating of her intellect, the glass ceiling above her head, the lack of mentors willing to coach and encourage her – yet, somehow, she still breaks through the ties that would bind, and runs toward her destiny.
Is it a wonder that women are feared so much by some men? I did, and today, through observations, conversations, education, I learned a great many things about women.
A woman is passionate – right or wrong, she can be passionate, thus easily deceived by those who would choose to take advantage of her trusting nature.
A woman is unyielding – when it comes to protecting others, she will do whatever it takes to keep another safe either emotionally, spiritually or physically.
A woman is nurturing – within her womb lies the core of all she is – a nurturer – whether she is a mom or not, the very nature of woman is to nurture or mentor another to wellness or success.
A woman is spiritual – deep in her heart, she senses that she is a special creation and that she has a purpose, a destiny awaiting her that is beyond her sight, but not out of reach – she desires to reach into the depths of her spirit and find that God is there, waiting to guide and direct her steps toward her life destiny.
A woman is observant – she sees, watches, listens, with her body, her mind, her eyes, her ears, her entire being is sensitive to what is going on around her. This sensitivity enables her to distinguish between right and wrong, however, sometimes, she can also be persuaded to believe her observation may not be correct – by corrupt individuals who would choose to negate and diminish her keen senses of observation.
A woman loves – with her whole being, she is filled with an endless well of love, that she wishes to share with those in her life. Withheld only if hurt, she will still seek out someone to love – adopt, mentor, elder care, community service, and other opportunities to pour out the love within her to others who may graciously receive it.
A woman sees – she sees with her eyes, and ponders – she sees with her heart, and contemplates all that is encompasses. What does she feel, what does she see, what does she sense?
A woman’s heart is the most precious jewel on earth. It captures the dazzling brilliance of the most exquisite diamond, with the fire of a ruby, the sparkle of a sapphire, the deep green colors of earth in an emerald, and the softness of a pearl. It is these gems, these lavish overtures of love from her heart that makes her who she is.
Caring, loving, strong, confident, bold, exceptional, feminine, and all that defines her as a winning woman. Why is she a winner? When you consider the challenges women face daily, the blocks in her path, the negating of her intellect, the glass ceiling above her head, the lack of mentors willing to coach and encourage her – yet, somehow, she still breaks through the ties that would bind, and runs toward her destiny. Nothing can stop her – countries will try, rules will try, corporations will try, yet, when a woman is focused and passionate – nothing can stop her!
This is the fire that lights a woman’s heart – why she bears children, why she mentors other women, why she walks with other women – because as women we need each other. To encourage, esteem, empower, mentor, teach, listen and love so that each of us, in our own way can put the stamp of our heart onto to the life or lives of those we touch.
Who but woman has this ability? No man can replicate any of these characteristics, it’s no wonder that some men don’t understand God’s purpose for woman . She is to be loved, and esteemed, instead they fear woman and choose to keep her at a lower level, to step on woman to advance their personal agendas – yet, when we read the Bible, we clearly see that God created man and woman in HIS Image, to be equal not above or beneath the other. Jesus made it quite clear that He came to set all free – women included, and He esteemed and honored women. He is woman’s emancipator, the absolute Woman’s Advocate – yet many choose to ignore Him thinking of Jesus as nothing more than a religious icon or a word to be used inappropriately.
A Woman’s heart comes from God, filled by HIM, to be poured out into the lives of others. Jesus, set us free so that we can fulfill our destiny as Winning Woman.
What holds you back from taking the step to be a Winning Woman? You have everything you need to accomplish it – it’s your choice, your decision, how long will you wait?

Free & Easy Chill Out followed by Fellowship Dinner!! (with optional follow-up coffee program) (Christian singles only)
It’s a very long time since we last organized a really big fun bash! Well....we've got a spacious, private, chic and central Harry’s Bar (see link provided below) for a relaxing fellowship session. I mean, where else do you get so many good things coming together? :P There’ll be ample space and time to freely mingle and have leisurely conversation with everyone else. There is a free pool table but you ought to be too busy talking right?…keke.
Thereafter we’ll proceed for dinner at HarborFront food court on the 3rd storey. Finishing a satisfying dinner, we’ll take a popular poll and decide where to go for the optional followup program (coffee, movie ?). Do take the opportunity to catch-up / be acquainted with the others :)
Date: 07th November (Saturday)
Time: See below.
Cost: Everything at own expense. Harry’s drinks are happy hour rates at only $5. The western-menu finger food is quite nice too.
Organizer: Victor (82238895 – pls call or sms this number only as a *very* last resort)
Expected Attendence: The place, from the link, comfortably holds at least 50 people. Seems a really nice cozy place that we look forward to hosting a large gathering and have a fun time!
How to Register: Email details (Name/HP/Email/NRIC) of urself and all ur invited friends to Victor Wang at beatitudes@vivaone.com.sg. (NRIC is for verification purposes only and will be kept strictly confidential.)
Meeting Point: Arrive at 4:00pm, to the restaurant "Harry’s @ Harborfront" at 1 Maritime Square #01-64 HarbourFront Centre. Walk in from the main front entrance of Harborfront Centre and continue walking down (about 30m?) till you see the restaurant on the extreme right.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Programme:
4:00 - 6:00 pm: Relaxing fellowship chit-chat. The central focus of our program, this is an extremely good time to catch up with old friends and meet up with new ones!
6:00 - 7:30 pm: Proceed to second part: dinner at the HarborFront Centre food court just above. There’s a great variety of food, spacious plus almost no crowd unlike VivoCity. Great place to carry on the conversation.
7:30pm: For those who find the night still young (doubtless many of us :P), we’ll take a poll and see which of the many interesting places at Harborfront or VivoCity to go for the optional follow-up program.
***Do take note***:
The fellowship portion is really the central focus so do try your best to make it for both the chill out and dinner. And also...do dress smart...but i don’t need to tell you that yah :P
Directions:
Nearest MRT is Harborfront MRT. Walk in from the main front entrance of Harborfront Centre and continue walking down till you see the restaurant on the right. Here’s a link of the establishment: http://www.harrys.com.sg/harbourfront.htm

S'pore guys getting better at communicating
S'pore guys getting better at communicating
by Ho Lian-Yi
EVEN dating expert Violet Lim, 29, had problems getting her hubby to talk.
The co-founder of dating company Lunch Actually used to go home hoping to talk about her day with her husband.
But all hubby wanted to do was sit and watch TV. She said: “Initially, I was very frustrated because I thought that he wasn’t interested in knowing more of how my day went.
“I thought he was stonewalling me. But when we learnt more about gender differences, I realised this was his way of replicating what his ancestors used to do – ‘fire gazing after a long day of hunting’, and he realised I just needed to talk to bond with him.”
And this, Mr Allan Pease noted, is the biggest problem with Asian men – they are not very communicative.
He said: “Western men and European men are more communicative because they have been trained to be. They weren’t like this before, but with political correctness and the feminist movement, if you don’t communicate with women, you’re going to be pretty lonely.
“Asian men, in terms of communication, definitely sit near the bottom of the list.”
Why? Men are generally less communicative.
And until recently, Asian men didn’t have to be communicative in relationships.
But the younger generation of Singaporean men is getting better at communicating.
Ms Lim has noticed the change – she is seeing more male clients who are eloquent and can express themselves well.
Tables turned
Ms Cynthia Lee, director of Exclusive Match, said women rarely tell her that their dates are too quiet.
“In fact, some of the men give feedback saying that the ladies are too quiet,” she added.
Said Ms Ada Wong, 31, co-founder of dating agency The Dating Loft: “Observe the girlfriend – what makes her smile like sunshine?
“Is it when you tell her she looks great? Is it when you give her a nice gift? Or is it when you hold her hands and hug her? Or when you make an effort to spend time with her? Or do things for her?
“A relationship grows with communication and trials.”
Mr Pease’s advice?
Talk more and learn to listen.
He said: “The most powerful words you can use as a man are ‘Tell me more’. And she will!”
However, he joked that listening to a woman talk for long periods can make a man “want to slit his throat”.
He talks to his wife Barbara via a webcam when he is travelling alone.
When Barbara is offloading her issues, he sometimes puts the camera under the TV so it looks like he’s paying attention when he’s actually watching Law And Order, he joked.
But what should a man do if the wife or girlfriend asks a question?
His tip: Ask her to repeat the exact question, with the details.
Now you know.

Bowling - 13 Sep (For Single Christian)
Dear all,
It's about time we meet, interact and share, play some games together, and have fun:).
Bowling
Date : 13 Sep 09 (Sun)
Time : 3-7pm
Venue : Civil Service Club (Tessensohn Road)
Nearest MRT station - Farrrer Park (3-5 mins' walk)
Cost : $3.60 per game
The Club has a peaceful and nice ambience, unlike some other bowling alleys which can be rather rowdy.
The turnouts for the last few bowling sessions have been good, and we are hopeful to get about 20 members or more this time. Rest assured that you will not be bowling "alone" ; we will do our best to ensure that everyone who turns up for the session will have a chance to get to know all other members:).
We will proceed for dinner after the games, and if the night is still young, supper!
Don't hesitate ; sign up now! If you are unable to come for the bowling session, feel free to join us for dinner and beyond. Please email to me at cuterman2001@yahoo.com
Cheers
David Lee

2ND SFG ANNUAL RETREAT (19 TO 21 SEP 09) (Strictly for Christians only)
Theme: Be Bonded! Back to Old “School” Days!
Singles Focus Group (SFG) is founded by Seok Ai and Monica. SFG is a ministry started by the founder with a burden for singles to have a platform whereby they can mix around, and network and have wholesome fellowship without the pressure of having to find the other half. And if sparks do fly, wow, it's a wonderful bonus. And the activities are always carried out in a very cost-conscious and cost-effective manner.
There's a “BACK-BY-POPULAR-DEMAND” SFG Annual Camp-out coming up (19 to 21 SEP 09, Saturday to Monday*) and I would like to invite you to join in the hilarious and wholesome fun. *Monday (21 SEP) is a Hari Raya holiday.
There are lots of great stuffs that will spice up your enjoyment in the camp.
Go wild chasing after the school goose. Perchance, you might find the Golden Egg Treasure.
Come and discover for yourself that indeed SFG GOT TALENTS! AND YOU TOO!
Give yourself the opportunity to charm each other with your talents.
Indulged fully in extended fun and fellowship. And the ever-popular PRATA-ship and MIDNIGHT-ship.
Open your heart to receive meaningful learning.
Get immersed in heart-to-heart sharing and close interaction during the popular BUZZ TIME.
Join in and count it a privilege of Being Bonded in Christ’s Love through the family of SFGians!
Come in your SCHOOL UNIFORM on the last night and re-live the good old nostalgic days in school…………….
Do get your Christian friends to come along too. Gather a few of your male and female Christian singles friends and register. Space is running out fast. Don't miss out on this whacky and fun camp. Don’t feel like going overseas? Then come home to SFG and spend a meaningful and eventful long weekend with us on this coming holiday and meet many fellow wonderful brothers- and lovely sisters-in-Christ.
Every participant will walk away with wonderful memories to cherished and new talents discovered. In addition, old friendships fostered and new friendships forged.

Eight reasons why you're still single
by Cynthia & Steven Lee
You’re independent, decent-looking and financially stable. You have lots to offer, yet you’re still single.
If you can’t understand why you’ve not found the right person, maybe you’ve been guilty of the classic mistakes many singles make.
See if any of the reasons below describe you perfectly, and perhaps it's time to think about ways to remedy your predicament.
Reason #1: You are as busy as a bee
Your career is your first love, and ambition flows fervently through your veins. You thought you could find a partner after rising to the top of the corporate ladder, but you’ve since realized there is no end to the climb.
Having spent most of your time focusing on getting ahead, you’ve lost sight of your social life and now you have no clue where to begin searching for your life partner. But just remember that you have to make time for the things that matter to you.
Reason #2: You value your independence over being ‘tied down’ by a partner
When you were younger, being single and independent was enticing, as you could do anything you wanted without being accountable to someone else.
But being in a relationship involves plenty of commitment, sacrifice and compromise. Even though you’re probably in the habit of doing things on your own terms, sometimes a little change is good.
Your daily routines are not set in stone; try to let go and be more open to allow someone in. You can invite that special someone into your life and still have your freedom (plus you now have newfound freedom to share transparently and intimately with your partner.)
Reason #3: You don’t try hard enough
Good things in life don’t come for free.
If you’re sitting around the house, moping and waiting for the right person to somehow fall from the sky, your chances of success are slim. It sounds intimidating and stressful, but the more you put yourself out there, the more opportunities you have to meet your ideal match.
Sure, you’ll have to sift through several unlikely candidates before meeting someone with promise, but it’ll be worth it.
When you put in the time and effort to expand your social circle, you’ll find yourself making more friends, and potential prospects will come naturally along the way.
Reason #4: You have high standards that are impossible to meet
If your checklist includes requirements like tall, good-looking, fit, intelligent, charismatic, rich, and with flawless character traits, chances are you’ll be disappointed.
We all want our life partner to be perfect (or as close to perfection as possible), but somewhere along the line we have to admit that it’s unachievable, because no one is perfect.
You don’t have to lower your standards to include everyone on the street, but if you’re too choosy about qualities you’re looking for in a partner, you may be letting the right person slip through your fingers.
Reason #5: You are too afraid to put yourself out there and meet other people
The thought of being vulnerable and opening up to someone else scares you to death.
Our fears include commitment, failure and rejection; you feel self-conscious and lack the confidence to approach others of the opposite sex.
But all you need is to take that first step to meet new people and engage in simple conversation with them. Once you’ve gotten that initial meeting out of the way, things will go smoother and fall into place easily.
Remember, practice makes perfect.
Reason #6: You have turned bitter and cynical after failed past relationships
We’ve all had our hearts broken (sometimes into several pieces), but it is essential to learn from it and move on. You can’t let your negativity affect you when trying to meet new people, because no one wants to be stuck in the presence of a sour puss.
So take some time to let old wounds heal, then leave all that baggage behind and look forward to starting a new, clean slate with someone else.
Reason #7: You have not made an effort to maintain your appearance consistently
Appearances matter. It’s as simple as that.
We may try to convince ourselves to look past the surface and see the beauty that lies within, but if there is no physical chemistry, the relationship will face a challenging start.
That is not to say that you must look perfectly coiffed during every single second of every single day, but at least attempt to look decent and maintain a good appearance consistently whether at work or play.
You never know when you will bump into a potential partner. So put in the effort to learn the art of grooming, ie. wearing the right colour or style that is uniquely you.
Reason #8: You treasure your possessions more than people
We all have things that we love – our favorite pets, computers, cars, TV shows, gadgets, clothes, and the list goes on.
But keep in mind that these are merely material belongings, and cannot substitute for human companionship. So put aside your valuables for at least one day in a week, and step out into the world to give yourself an opportunity to find love.
With all that said, the main thing is to keep an open mind and be receptive to opportunities. Go out and attend social events. Volunteer your service for charities and make no qualms about trying out dating services or professional matchmaking services.
Now that you’re armed with all this knowledge, it’s time to put yourself out there and start to explore.

Do not miss this encouraging testimony....
Dear friends,
Enclosed is a Christian's testimony to encourage your walk with God.
http://creation.com/atomic-power
It's important to understand the dependability of God ‘when there was nowhere else to turn’. ‘Each time things seemed hopeless, turning to God gave the answer, just around the corner. We should not doubt God, but cast ourselves wholeheartedly upon the Lord.’
There're great lessons to learn when we experience problems/hardships in life. Trust God. Trust His Word.
God brings rain—and sunshine—to the just and the unjust. Why would we expect to escape bad things? They come from the Curse after Adam’s sin. But in spite of the Fall, we’re made in God’s image, and should reflect His glory.

Bible Study(For Single Christian Only)
Hi
Years ago when I joined SDU, I was also part of the group called Agage Koinonia. I am not sure if it is the same Agape group.
Today I am married for 8 years. I writing because I would like to give back something to Agape as I benefit much in term of friendship. Todate I have a group of married agapes and we are still friends and emailing regularly.
I am interested to start a Bible Study group to Christian Singles in Agape. If there are members who are interested, you could have them email me directly for some preliminary discussions.
Back then we use a Yahoo group for mass mailing, if it ifine for me if you send an email out that include my email add. I am happy to start a group even with 3 persons. I shall certainly keep you updated should there be any Bible Study group form.
Hope you can consider this proposal.
Thank you.

Cycling to Peirce Reservoir (for single christians only)
Inviting all cyclists to join me for the below event:
Date: Sat 22 Aug 09
Time: 0830-1300hrs
Meeting Venue: Bus stop at along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1 (beside Bishan Park 2)
Cycling Route: Bishan Pk 2 (bike rental) - Bishan Pk 1 - Lower Peirce Reservoir - Upper Peirce Reservoir - reverse order journey to Bishan Pk 2.
Lunch: At Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1 hawker centre (directly opposite Bishan Park 2)
Activities:
1) At Lower Peirce Reservoir: water catchment view and forest board walk.
2) At Upper Peirce Reservoir: water catchments view, overlooking to Lower Peirce Reservoir and some flats at AMK(may be even Bishan Pk 1 (trees top), if you use a binocular). Rest, playing games (optional) and more trekking (optional) ..
Level: Moderate. At Upper Peirce Reservoir (two very steep hills after the entrance; that is a challenge for most of you I believe) and gradual up slope before (30 m) and after Lower Peirce Reservoir (about 80 metre; but return journey is a down slope, so do apply your rear brake) , the rest of the route is flat ground !!
Requirement: It's ok if you don't know how to use or engage the gears. But must be able to cycle confidently on both up and down (applying the brakes effectively) slope.
Pls register your participation (or enquiry), stating whether you need a bike and helmet rental or bringing your own bike and/or helmet and your hp number, gender, email address and church attending via my email : dawnwarrior@ymail.com. Wearing helmet (cycling/rollerblading) is compulsory. Kindly state on the email heading: "Cycling to PR". If not, I may mistaken & treat it as a malicious/scam email and delete it.
Group Size: 15 pax max. Hope to have a equal number of gals and guys (including myself). Registration on first-come-first-serve basis.
Bike rental rate: It depends on the group size. $16 for 4 hr (if there is a group size of 10-15 pax renting). Usual is $8/hr. I intend to have another round of bargain with the boss, after gather the confirmed group size. Final rate will be disclose again after second round of bargain on 16th August.
Helmet rental rate: $3 for 4 hr (usual is $2/hr). Wearing helmet is compulsory. Btw, I will be using my own bike and I don't earn any profit from the rentals of bike & helmet. Just like to encourage group participation and have fun cycling and nature sightseeing together. :-)
Closing date of registration: 12th of August. As I need to reserve booking for the bikes & negotiate on the rental rates (second round again, haha..). Anybody here gifted in negotiation skills are welcome to help me.
Important notes to read:
After Bishan Park 1 onwards, we will be cycling on-road (old Upper Thomson Road) leading to Lower Peirce Reservoir and Upper Peirce Reservoir, as there are no pavement or cycling track. It is a short route (about less than 100 metre) to Lower Peirce Reservoir and about 1.5Km - 2Km (my estimation) to Upper Peirce Reservoir.
Usually, this road is relatively quiet, only some visitors driving along this road to either Lower or Upper Peirce Reservoirs on weekends for jogging or picnic. Others would be joggers, cyclist, group of racer cyclists (occasionally) and monkeys along the road. So it is safe cycling on this road, based on my past experiences. Just that the road size is two-lane width (two ways except the road before Lower Peirce entrance), so we need to keep to the left as possible and cycle in one single file. And a short stretch of S-bend road before Upper Peirce Reservoir. But don’t worry, for everyone’s safety, we will cycle slowly and keep close together as a group, except for the first man (me) and my helpers (second, third and last man).
There will be a total of two or three danger zones throughout the journey. My helpers and myself will guide you along when comes to these danger zones. Safety guidelines would be: no overtaking among the group, try to echo down any message pass down from the last man or anybody in the group (especially when there is vehicle approaching from behind). If on certain route you find that the road edge is 'scary' (uneven or cracked) and feel not safe or confident to ride, do feel free to disembark and push the bike along, embark and ride again once you feel it is safe to ride.
And cos we are cycling on the road, I hope that everyone adopt a road-conscious attitude, be aware at all times, of vehicles coming from the rear and from the front (on S-bend road; that small stretch before the entrance of Upper Peirce). That will make the trip fun, enjoyable and safe. By the way, the road is surrounded mostly by trees and vegetation at both sides so it is a total different feeling when cycling along this road.
Other details will be disclosed thro your email after you signed up. Simple tips such as how to clear the steep (up & down) slopes at Upper Peirce for those inexperience and for those who likes to take on the challenge! .. Sorry for this long description but felt that it is necessary.
P.S :
The lengthy decription is for your rough understanding only. It's ok if you don't remember anything after reading :-) I will brief the group and my helpers again on that day and at the danger zone itself. Just follow the instruction will do. That simple. :-) Ok, stay healthy & rejoice in the Lord always.
